This blog post will give a little insight to what profits come from the organization and how much people actually give for these tomatoes.

Windmill Farms sells to several locations as mentioned such as: Food Lion, Earth Fare, and The Fresh Market. These locations are all purchasing tomatoes either by the box price, or the price of a pallet of tomatoes. Prices vary depending on the area, but typically a box is close to $30. There are around 80 boxes on a pallet, so you do the math.

The tomatoes that are not sold to these stores because they don't meet the grade are then taken to the local farmers markets in Greensboro, NC, and another one that is close to Windmill Farms in Mayodan, NC. At the farmers Market in Mayodan, the tomatoes are priced to sell at $1.99lb. At the location in Greensboro they are priced a bit higher because of the business dynamics in that location and because of more wealth in that area. The price there is $2.79lb.

Other than these sources of income, there are regular customers that come and buy tomatoes from our location itself and who stop by frequently. In the shop we charge $1.99 a pound as well.

These are the primary places that the tomatoes are sold to and this is where the business income comes from.

We hope to be a transparent organization and wanted to give our consumers a bit of insight when it comes to our business. Thanks!
